Kyodo News reported on the 11th that Japanese Foreign Minister Lin Fang was handing over a personal letter to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to the newly-appointed South Korean President Yoon Seok-wook.
The letter mentioned Yin Xiyue's willingness to improve Japan-South Korea relations, and wrote "deeply encouraged" to express her expectations.
Kyodo news agency said it is rare that the written content of the Japanese prime minister's personal letter was known when it was handed over to the head of the other party.
According to the report, Lin Fangzheng showed the handwritten letter to the media during a meeting with Yin Xiyue on the 10th. Kyodo News said, "The two sides may intend to actively promote the scene of handwritten letters and create an atmosphere for improving bilateral relations."
