Pope Francis arrives in Canada – July 24, 2022

Indigenous leaders and federal and provincial dignitaries are among those taking part in an official ceremony in Edmonton welcoming Pope Francis to Canada. The Pope is visiting Canada from July 24 to 29 to meet with Indigenous peoples and to address the role of the Catholic Church in Canada’s residential school system. Pope Francis is expected to make a formal apology on Canadian soil. The papal visit also includes stops in Quebec City and Iqaluit.
