047: Mayor's Latest Dirty Trick

For the first time in more than four years McLendon-Chisholm Mayor Keith Short played a parliamentary trick by bringing back a "Consent Agenda," which helped keep the Mayor & Council from having to discuss several highly controversial issues in an open meeting, where all eight items were approved in one solitary vote, without even mentioning what it was they were voting on!

The Mayor and Council Members are now trying to argue that what occurred at the Council Meeting, which lasted less than nine minutes, was all within the bounds of the law.  However, the procedure, which IS allowed for regular & routine items that are non-controversial, was misused and shows that the Mayor, who is the only person to be challenged in what was supposed to be the May election, abused his only actual power granted by the state of Texas, which is to create the meeting agenda, especially since one of those items extends his tenure in office by an additional six months without an election.

I'll cover all of this on today's show!
