A WIN FOR DEMOCRACY AT THE CHICO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ON 3/9/22! THE GREEN MAP PREVAILED. DEMOCRACY WON THE DAY AND THE NEXT TEN YEARS!

One for the record books. The current Board consists of five "members at large" seats so voters elect candidates regardless of where they live (the board members support ALL residents and ALL students in theory). This changes for the 2022 election and next ten years as the District was forced by threat of lawsuit to convert to a "trustee area" election process. The District was broken up into five parts using the census information and the identified philosophies established at the beginning of the process. One board member per trustee area. The voters in that area elect a person who lives in that trustee area. Much more balanced approach and much needed. THIS BOARD CONSISTS OF 4 MEMBERS WHO ALL LIVE WITHIN TWO AREAS. This explains a tilted or bias toward one political leaning as most are connected to Chico State.
And NO ONE LIVES AT THE NORTH END TO REPRESENT SHASTA AND THOSE SCHOOL PARENTS.

Kathleen Kaiser the longest serving and lives in southwest area (new D4) and is up for reelection in 2022.

Tom Lando also lives in southwest area D4 and is up for reelection 2022 (YOU CAN NOW SEE WHY WE PUSHED HARD FOR GREEN MAP BECAUSE THEY BOTH CAN'T SERVE ON THE BOARD). BY THE GREEN MAP WINNING, EITHER LANDO OR KAISER WILL NOT BE ON THE BOARD NEXT YEAR. AND.

Matt Tennis was elected 2020 and lives in central part of Chico around Parkview which is also D4. He can stay in his Districtwide "member at large" seat until 2024 with no need to run this 2022 election. BUT THE D4 SEAT WILL BE FILLED SO HE WILL THEN NEED TO WAIT UNTIL 2025 TO POSSIBLY RUN AGAIN. HIS CHOICE. HE COULD RUN NOW FOR THE TRUSTEE AREA SEAT AND CONTINUE ON IF HE WINS UNTIL 2026.

Eileen Robinson lives in the new D5 area and is up for reelection in 2022.

Caitlyn Dalby is in the same situation as Matt Tennis. Was elected to a member-at-large seat in 2020 so can stay in that seat for two more years and be done with the School Board for two years until the next election in 2026.

THE GREEN MAP OPENED UP THREE BRAND NEW TRUSTEE AREA SEATS WHERE THERE ARE NO INCUMBENTS CURRENTLY! D1 WAS SELECTED BY THE BOARD AS WE TRANSITION TO A TRUSTEE AREA PROCESS WITH STAGGERED ELECTION CYCLES (3 members up for reelection 2022 and 2 in 2024).

IF MATT TENNIS AND CAITLYN DALBY DECIDE TO RUN FOR THE TRUSTEE SEAT IN 2022 THAT WILL OPEN UP THE OTHER BRAND NEW SEATS FOR D2 AND D3!!

WE COULD LITERALLY HAVE THREE BRAND NEW SEATS FILLED IN 2022.

THE GREEN MAP EFFECTIVELY RECALLED TWO OF THE THREE BOARDMEMBERS.

SO PUT THAT INTO CONTEXT AND WATCH HOW THE EXCHANGE GOES DOWN DURING THE INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT VOTE.

BY THE WAY, PRINCESS CAITLYN DALBY.... YOUR BEHAVIOR WAS AN EMBARRASSMENT.

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR GOOD CANDIDATES!
