President Trump with Coronavirus Task Force Briefing
President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force gave an update on the federal response to the pandemic. The president began remarks noting his sadness and concern for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is now in intensive care after testing positive for COVID-19. He said U.S. pharmaceutical companies are in contact with the prime minister’s doctors regarding potential therapeutics that may help his condition. President Trump also mentioned that he was on a phone call earlier with former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden regarding the virus and the government response. Other topics he touched on included federal and state coordination with distribution of medical supplies, testing capacity and the firing of the captain of the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt.
