Antarctic ice shelves at risk of collapse, extreme atmospheric conditions make Antarctic ice shelves more vulnerable
China News, April 15th, Springer Nature's open-access professional academic journal recently published a climate change research paper pointing out that between 2000 and 2020, the iceberg disintegration events surrounding the Larsen Ice Shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula have 60% are caused by extreme atmospheric conditions, and the study argues that the same process could put the Larsen C ice shelf at risk of collapse under projected future warming.
