Canada's inflation soars to nearly 40-year high of 8.1% in June

In June, prices at the pumps jumped by more than 50 per cent compared to what they were a year ago and that affects the price of most everything you see in stores and restaurants because it's shipped in.

Food across the board costs nearly nine per cent more, hitting restaurants hard.

The price of everything from meat to flour to take-out containers takes a toll on the bottom line.

The Conference Board of Canada’s latest note says Canadians are looking for something to blame on inflation.

But there “are multiple causes and no smoking gun,” it reads.
