Black Box is a Pen and Paper deductive strategy game for two players invented by Eric Solomon.
The Challenger sets up a hidden pattern of four atoms (the molecule) on an 8x8 grid of squares. The Experimenter fires exploratory beams into the grid (the Black Box) and is told whether or not the beam exits and where. In this way the Experimenter builds up an experimental picture of the molecule.
The game ends when the Experimenter is satisfied she has guessed the structure of the hidden molecule. Scoring then takes place with the less beams used the better!
The video illustrates clearly the Rules of Interaction between the Beam and the Atoms of the molecule by means of animations. The method of recording to be used by the Experimenter is explained clearly with an illustrative game sheet.
