The Golden Pheasant is another very old pattern in Ray Bergman's book Trout. I chose to tie this fly and do a video on it because I had not tied any flies yet with a Golden Pheasant Tippet wing. When tying wet flies, often the flies have very similar construction just different colors of slightly different materials for the tail or throat or wing etc... This fly has a very broad wing and because of the specific material involved it presents an interesting challenge. So much so that I reached out to a fellow fly tier Fred Klein at Grizzly King Flies for a little advice. Head over to his site (https://www.grizzlykingfly.com/) or follow him on Instagram and you will find a beautiful Golden Pheasant fly he did. I was experiencing the "challenge": with the wings and asked Fred for some tips. Watch the video to find out what he mentioned and to learn a little of how I dealt with the issues of tying the Golden Pheasant, i regards to the wing. Overall, a wonderful fly to tie and it was very satisfying when it all came together. - Enjoy
