Sri Lanka declares emergency ahead of president vote

Daily life resumed in Sri Lanka's commercial capital of Colombo on Monday (July 18) morning, a day after acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe gazetted orders for a state of emergency in an effort to head off unrest ahead of a parliament vote later this week to elect a new president.
