Middleman is a Pencil & Paper buying and selling strategy game which simulates a Market. A complete game consists of 10 buying and selling cycles. Players buy and sell Discs (DVDs) from and to the Middleman (who represents the Market). Players attempt to make the most profit. The stages of the game are recorded simultaneously by all players on a Game Sheet (link above). There can be 2 players or more. It can also be played in a classroom scenario where the teacher acts as the Middleman and there are say 6 teams of 4 students for a class of 24 students for example.
The video explains the mechanics of the game using an illustrative game with 4 players and works through the first buying and selling cycle in detail showing all the necessary calculations.
Key words are: Strategy, Game, Paper and Pencil, Economics, Mathematics, Arithmetic, Market forces, buying and selling, profit and loss, bids, offers, least and greatest, income and expenditure.
