Press conference by Saudi FM on oil, MidEast security after US Biden's controversial meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad 在美國拜登與王儲穆罕默德舉行有爭議的會晤後,沙特外長就石油、中東安全舉行新聞發布會

Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat discussed oil, Iran, Yemen, and other regional issues after US President Joe Biden’s 4-day visit to the Mideast and a summit of regional leaders.

Biden met on Friday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and shared a cordial fist bump as he tried to reset the diplomatic relationship, bolster Mideast security and increase the global flow of oil.

After the meeting, the US played down expectations for any immediate increase in Saudi oil production, which could help alleviate high fuel prices that are politically damaging to Biden back home.

Besides, during the press conference, the Saudi foreign minister said the country’s hand remains “outstretched” to Iran and hopes to reach “normal relations” with its neighbor.

The minister also downplayed talk of normalization with Israel after the kingdom opened its airspace to Israeli commercial flights.

He insisted there was no discussion at the summit of any military cooperation with Israel or a so-called “Arab NATO”.
