The Felidae (cat) family includes the giant animal lion (Panthera leo). Some stout men weigh more than 250 kg (550 lb). Today, wild lions can be found in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Lions have evolved to live in meadows and locations where there are both grass and trees. The relatively petite females are coordinated hunters who can run quickly over short distances. In the past, lions vanished from southwest Asia and North Africa. The lion was the most prevalent big terrestrial mammal after humans up until the late Pleistocene, or about 10,000 years ago. The majority of Africa, the region of Eurasia extending from western Europe to India, and the Americas from the Yukon to Peru all contained them. The lion is currently a threatened species. In the second part of the 20th century, there was a fall in its African range of 30–50% during a period of two decades. The biggest issues are habitat loss and confrontations with people.Lions are frequently referred to be "king of the creatures." They serve as representations of courage. More than any other animal, they frequently figure in heraldry. They stand for bravery and regal power.
