8.4 explosion in Lebanon's capital

At around 6 pm on August 4, 2020, a huge explosion occurred in the port area of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The explosion occurred twice in succession, causing damage to many houses, shattering glass, and red smoke rising from the sky. After the explosion, Lebanese Prime Minister Diab inspected the explosion site, declared August 5 as a national day of mourning, and said that Lebanon would seek help from the international community.
The explosion killed at least 190 people, injured more than 6,500 and left three missing. The Lebanese authorities announced on August 17 that the state of emergency in Beirut was extended to September 18; on the same day, the Lebanese judiciary announced the preliminary findings of the Beirut bombing case. There was serious negligence in the management of the Beirut Port No. 12 warehouse, because in addition to the explosion in the warehouse of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, and also stored a large number of fireworks and firecrackers. On December 10, the judge in charge of the investigation into the Beirut port bombing in Lebanon, Sawan, accused the caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab and three former ministers of negligence.
