Far Infrared Lamp Used to Reduce Swelling in Ankles in People with Lymphedema
Curt has a Relax Far Infrared Sauna and also the SkyEye medical grade far infrared lamp.
He was very happy with the Relax Sauna, then compared it with wooden saunas and found it to heat up faster and to get hotter.
He used the SkyEye lamp to help melt lymph fluid to reduce swelling in ankles in people with lymphedema using bi-weekly treatments.

Curt – Well, we were very happy with the sauna itself. We compared it to lots of different saunas, large wooden saunas and things. We found that the Relax Sauna gets up to around 150 degrees. And, it has penetrating light. Therefore, it goes deeply Into the system very, very nicely. We've used it for a lot of different conditions. But the place where we've had some patients who had Lymphedema and swelling in the lower leg, probably vascular also, but there was some lymph buildup in the lower legs and the ankles, so we use the light, the more intense, focused light on the Lymphedema. And, what we found was that the lymph fluid, which was kind of gelled in most instances, we could actually melt the lymph fluid. And, then, by massaging the legs and the ankles, we could move the lymph fluid up so that it could actually be disposed of properly by the body.
And, we found that we could start with an ankle that was fairly large and swollen and take it down to an almost normal size ankle, within about a month or so, with bi-weekly treatments with the light. And, people have been very, very happy with it. They love the fact that their ankles are smaller again and they don't ache the way they had been. So, it's been a very, very successful treatment.
Phillip - When you have the Lymphedema what is being removed from the body?
Curt - Well, the lymph system is the garbage scow of the system. So, it takes anything, the cellular breakdown, it takes the toxins and things like this and, then, it actually enables you to move that stuff out of the body. But if it's settled in your ankles, then you're not moving anything. So, the melting of the lymph fluid, the heating of it and being able to move it up into the system where it can be disposed of, is a very, very powerful therapy for Lymphedema.
Phillip - Now, before you heard about the Relax Sauna what did you use, or what did you try to use to get rid of the, uh?
Curt - We really didn't have anything. I'm a chiropractor and we just had patients who had the problem. And, we see them through the physiology and decided to try it and it worked so well, now, we've got it on many patients
Phillip - That's good. 10, 20, how many patients?
Curt – Oh, it's hard to estimate at this point, probably somewhere between 10 and 20. We've been doing it for about a year or two.
Phillip – That’s great. Now, you were also saying to someone else who was at our booth that you had the Relax Sauna. And, you said, “Well, I might as well buy the real sauna rather than a wooden one,” thinking you were getting it backward. And, what happened? You did some research on the wooden saunas?
Curt – Oh, yeah, I went to the wooden sauna store, so to speak, and I was kind of put off that It took about 20 minutes for it to heat up and, then, it wasn’t really hot after that, you know? It was kind of lukewarm.
Phillip – Yeah.
Curt - I'm sure it was penetrating radiant energy from those, also, but unless you want to have sauna parties, you know, I didn’t see any reason to do that in terms of the health benefits. The Relax Sauna does a great job and it’s got the reflective surface. And, the reflective surface, actually, reflects the rays that are not direct, back onto you. So, I don't see any reason why an individual or even a practice would want to go with large saunas. They look nice. They're great and all that stuff but the Relax Sauna does the job, I think, better than they do.
Phillip – And, how long does it take you to use the Relax Sauna?
Curt – It takes about 3 to 5 minutes for it to heat up and you can be in it while it's doing that. And, then, it stays hot the whole time that it's on. So, I use it to warm myself up before I work out with weights or before I play tennis. And, then, if I'm lifting weights, I get out, do about 10 minutes, do the weightlifting and, then, get back in again. And, then, I'll do maybe one or two reps with weightlifting and by the time I'm finished, I'm just drenched with sweat which is, of course, detoxifying the body and things. So, it’s pretty magnificent. Then, I go upstairs and take a cold shower.
Phillip – Oh, wow!
Curt – And, it's interesting because cold showers are usually horrific things that I would never do. But after the heat, I can get into a lukewarm shower. And, then, as I take the shower, I turn it colder and colder and colder and it works really well.
