HEAD ON COLLISION TURNS FATAL, LIVINGSTON TEXAS, 07/17/22...

Head On Collision, 1 Driver Flown, 1 Deceased, LIVINGSTON, July 17, 2022 - Shortly after 1 pm on July 17, 2022, the driver of a silver 2006 Dodge Caravan was north-bound on US-59 (across from American Legion Hall) when the driver of a black Chevy HHR, for some reason, turned onto the exit ramp and drove into the oncoming traffic, and slammed head on into the Dodge Caravan. The Dodge came to rest in the middle of the road while the Chevy HHR came to rest on the shoulder. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Sergeant Dallas Early, Chris Simmons, Chad Lilley, and Detective Leon Middleton with the Livingston Police Department. Additionally, Troopers Nick Hatton and Johnny Wilkerson and Deputy Terri Mayer with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived to assist. The driver of the Chevy HHR was allegedly killed on impact. The driver of the Dodge was flown from the scene by Air Life Air Medical. The Chevy had two dog passengers, 1 dog was killed. All traffic on the north-bound side was blocked during flight operations and partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The names of the drivers have not yet been released. Both vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston (Ken's was assisted by Dan's Towing). This accident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department.
