Walruses live on both land and water near the artic. They have many whiskers, 2 large prominent tusks, and flat flippers on their front and back legs. They can weigh more than 4,000 pounds with an almost 6” thick layer of blubber. The hardworking walrus may look huge and clumsy, but they spend most of their time in the water where they’re very agile swimmers. Walruses like to feed at the bottom of shallow waters for different marine organisms. They’re very tough and can withstand freezing temperature even in the coldest weather.

Sociable and community minded, walruses congregate in large herds, where the female walrus is very protective of her calf. They feel safe with their own kind and enjoy physical contact. The easygoing walrus is very unique and enjoys doing things their own way. They’re known for being non-aggressive and are one of nature’s gentle giants.

Walruses are symbols of close family ties, friendship, and positive energy. They’re may not look pretty, but when you want to be social or need affection, call on the spirit of walrus.
