A new monk is starting his new life at the monastery. He’s given the job of helping the other monks copy the old texts into new books by hand. However, he notices that they are not the original books, they are copying copies.
So he queries this with the head monk. He says, " if there was an error in the first copy, it would be continued in all of the other copies." The head monk replies: “We have been copying from the copies for many centuries, but it's a good point, I will investigate.”
The head monk goes down to the library with one of the copies to check it against the original. Hours past by and nobody has seen him. So, one of the monks goes to the library to look for him. He hears sobbing coming from the back of the library and finds the old monk with one of the original books crying. He asks what’s wrong.
“The word is not celibate, it's celebrate” says the old monk with tears in his eyes.
