One of the early milestones as a YouTube Creator is to get 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. These milestones open up a variety of tools to the YouTube Creator that support the endeavor both creatively and financially.

On April 2nd the channel received its 4,000th watch hour and on April 11th, one day before my one year anniversary on YouTube, we received our 1,000th subscriber! I cannot believe that there are 1,000 people out there that are evening willing to watch me on YouTube. But regardless, thank you for you support both in my growth and what I am actually doing. I love the questions and comments!

YouTube has the YouTube Creator awards they are:

Graphite: 100 Subscribers
Opal: 1,000 Subscribers
Bronze: 10,000 Subscribers
Silver: 100, 000 Subscribers
Gold: 1,000,000 Subscribers
Diamond: 10,000,000 Subscribers
Custom/Ruby: 50,000,000 Subscribers
Red Diamond: 100,000,000 Subscribers

You can read more about YouTube Creator Awards at Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube_Creator_Awards

They only start awarding physical plaques at the Silver level, so as a creator, maker, and woodworker I decided to make my own Opal Award for reaching 1,000 subscribers. I made a Graphite Award as well at the same time. I got the idea from the YouTube Channel, Atomic Dairy. You can check there video out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpS_epi3ZdA&t=242s And while you are there don;t forget to subscribe and support a couple of awesome makers!

I made these awards out of 3/4" pine scraps I had laying around the shop, but frankly you can make them out of anything. I am even considering 3D printing one to see how it looks! The dimensions were 5 1/2" x 6 3/4"for the Opal and 4 1/4" x 5" for the Graphite Award. A little scrolling, sanding, and spray painting with some vinyl stencils from my CriCut machine, and now I have two (fake) YouTube Creator Awards to commemorate my channel growth. Looking forward to that Bronze Award!

Thank you all again for you support during my first year on YouTube! I'm looking forward to the future!
