Saved by Faith or by Works?

A whirlwind study through the first 3 chapters of Romans, focusing in on verses 7-10 of chapter 2 -- where Paul seems to say one can be saved by works; comparing that passage also with James' similar thoughts in chapter 2 of his epistle.
