Burundi prison fire kills 100

On December 7, local time, a fire broke out in Gitega prison in Gitega province, central Burundi. Burundi Vice President Bazong Banza said the fire killed 38 prisoners and injured 69 others.
According to local media reports, the fire broke out at around 4 a.m. that day, and the Burundian security department said on social media that the fire was caused by a fault in the power supply system.
