Honda has introduced a fully-redesigned HR-V for 2023. The subcompact SUV grows in size, gains a new engine, receives a more contemporary design, and arrives with more tech features.
Honda offers the 2023 HR-V in three trims: LX, Sport, and EX-L. Pricing for the LX starts at $24,895 (with destination) and goes up to $28,695 for the EX-L.
Under the hood, the HR-V comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s borrowed from the Civic. The engine is rated at 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard. Front-wheel drive is the standard and all-wheel drive is available for $1,500 throughout the lineup.
Official fuel economy figures for the 2023 HR-V aren’t available yet. Honda believes the subcompact SUV will be able to get up to 26 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined with FWD. AWD models have an estimated combined fuel economy rating of 27 mpg.
While the HR-V still offers seating for up to five people, the SUV’s larger body results in more cargo area than before. With the rear seats in place, the HR-V offers up to 24.4 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding the rear seats down expands the total cargo capacity to 55.1 cubic feet of space.
On the tech front, the HR-V now comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth, four-audio speakers, and two USB ports are also standard.
The Sport trim gets six audio speakers as standard. Moving up to the EX-L brings a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight audio speakers, and a wireless charging pad.
