Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (PC) Gameplay Sample

I've always been a big fan of Shogo, featuring it as an underrated Gem on my channel as far back as 2009. I know, in recent years, there has been a lot of talk about that weird cat mission later in the game by a bigger channel, but that aside, I still have always really enjoyed this game.

I got it in a two-pack with Septerra Core way back in the day for a mere $10. This was one of the first games I ever owned for the PC, and one of the first games that showed my how a graphic's card can improve the visuals of a game via the first PC I ever owned, and my AGP slot Radeon 9000 card.

It's been years since I have given this a full playthrough, so maybe I should go back and play it again. This was a story-based FPS game that had the bad fortune of being released right around the same time as the original Half-Life. HL totally buried this game from getting much recognition.

All that aside, I have always loved the combination of on-foot FPS gameplay with giant mech FPS gameplay in Shogo, and the anime-inspired art direction.

This game has been a pain in the butt to get running, even on a windows XP system. It ran great on my old rig with my Radeon 9000, but any rig since has been a lot of fiddling, and tweaking the settings to get it to run properly. I assume it's even more of a pain to get running on a Windows 10 computer.

This footage was taken of my retro Windows XP computer which I built earlier this year. It's a whole lot easier to run a Virtual XP computer, but building a retro rig is more fun. I'm also using FRAPS to record the footage, if you remember FRAPS, and having to use Handbrake to convert the giant, fraps files into something that any other editing software could recognize this side of Windows Movie Maker. Handbrake also aligns the sound and keeps it from coming unsynced.

To see my old underrated gem video of this game that I actually used Xfire's screen recorder (RIP Xfire) to record the footage for, and the sound is unsynced go here: https://youtu.be/cVPyJuK2daM
