Super Smash T.V. (Game Gear) Gameplay Sample

I just picked this cart up today. I found the local Game X Change in my area, and splurged on some retro games. I am using the Retron 5 with the 3-In-1 Adapter to play this footage.

Not a great port, but I wasn't expecting it to be, but still playable, and I was actually able to beet Mutiod Man in this footage. My first test-play, I used all my continues at him. I appears that your continues replenish in each new level which is a big plus. Either that, or I earned new continues through score, it's not very clear to me.

I found myself rather enjoying this game despite it's obvious control issues. I am using the Genesis 6-button arcade pad for this footage, but seeing as the Game Gear only has three buttons, and one of them is to pause the game, the devs gave you one button for directional shooting, where you shoot in the direction you are pushing on the D-Pad (The defual setting has you shooting in the opposite direction you push on the D-Pad, but I changed it), and one button to lock your fire in the direction you are shooting. This system works, but certainly isn't a good.

Overall, I surprisingly, like what I have played so far, despite this being a super scaled back port with some obvious downgrades to the controls. Not terrible, but certainly not the best version of the game to play. If you find it cheaply, pick it up. "I'd buy that for a dollar."
