Retro Bit Super Retro Trio Quick Review

If the emulation box aspect and the limitations that come with the Retron 5 don't interest you, The retro-bit Super Retro Trio might be the better choice for you. The trio is hardware based, meaning it has full compatibility to Genesis, Snes, and Nes games. This also means that, unlike the retron 5, You can use your game genie, it runs doom way better, and you can even use the passthrough in games like sonic and knuckles to play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 and three. The clone Snes controllers that come with it are, actually, really good, and this system is cheap to pick up. The only downside to it is, while the system has an HDMI out which upscales to 720p, it automatically stretches the image to 16:9, which will annoy those who are sticklers about using the original aspect ratio. You can adjust the aspect ratio on your TV or in your editing software if you are using it for YouTube purposes. Oddly enough, the retron 5's 3-in one adapter works on this console allowing you to play master system games...but you can't pause it. Honestly, I really like the Super Retro Trio as well, and highly recommend it. It's a solid clone console that can be played on modern, or CRT TV's because it also has composite out.
