Khalifa dies at 73 UAE holds funeral for late president

On the 13th local time, the UAE held a funeral for the late President Khalifa. Earlier in the day, the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced the news of Khalifa's death and announced that it will hold a 40-day national mourning for Khalifa from the 13th. Flags were flown at half-staff across the country to show condolences.
Khalifa suffered a stroke in January 2014 and has rarely appeared in the public eye since then. Government affairs are mostly handled by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. According to the constitution, the current Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai Sheikh Mohammed, temporarily serves as the president.
