July 7th: 62nd Anniversary Of The Day Of Air Defence Troops

#ThisDay 62 years ago, a new service and the position of air defence troops commander were established within the USSR Armed Forces.

This day is considered the Day of Air Defence Troops.

◽️ Nowadays, air defence troops are the main firing force in the air defence framework designed for defending the command posts of superior state and military authorities, groups of troops, key industrial and economic centres, as well as other facilities from aerospace attack means of the enemy within operational ranges of air defence systems.

◽️ Air defence troops destroy airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, ultrasonic and other aircraft of the enemy, as well as medium-range ballistic and operational-tactical missiles.

In addition, air defence troops counter air reconnaissance and electronic warfare means of the enemy, as well as can be used for destroing airborne troops and paratroopers of the enemy in flight.
