05-15-20, Join us for our Friday Illinois Homestead Farm VLOG from our Southern Illinois farm! Lots of fun today as Phil and I try to beat out Mother Nature and the weatherman's hourly forecast. Some call it land management, some property management, but we call it fun! The forecast called for rain starting around 10 a.m. or so today, so we got an early start just after sun up to try and get a couple of soybean food plots tilled and planted before the rain started. First we did some fabrication on Phil's power tractor tiller because it was only a Class I and would not fit on my Branson tractor (7845c) as it was. So we fabricated it not only to fit my tractor but to also be quick attache or imatch compatible. Then we headed out to the field, even though it started raining already. The first stop was my 'house food plot' location, but I had forgot that I had a big pile of hardwood trees that I had pulled with my Bobcat Mini Excavator and was supposed to demo a tree shredder/wood chipper and grind them up. However, the Bobcat shop has been busy and the wood chippers have all been rented out for a few months now. So, I at least had to try to move it out of the way enough to get a decent size soybean food plot planted. Of course the rain was getting heavier by the minute. I was tilling with my Branson 7845c, and Phil was right behind me planting with his Branson 5220 and his Tar River DRL-072 planter. The first few passes went OK but then it really started to down pour! Joins us to see how it pans out and to have some fun!
