Finnish President Niinisto: Finland will apply for NATO membership, protests in Finnish capital
Finland's application to join NATO was unanimously approved by the president and the government's foreign policy committee after consultations with parliament. The NATO secretary general said that if Finland and Sweden decide to apply for NATO membership, it will enhance NATO's common security. According to the regulations, NATO must "unanimously agree" on the premise of 30 member states to admit new members.
On the 15th, 300 to 500 protesters against joining NATO arrived at the Senate Square in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, to protest Finland's joining NATO. Some citizens also believed that Finland should not change its neutrality.
Helsinki residents: I don't think Russia will attack here, but we have a long border with Russia, so I prefer to do business with them, be friends, be neutral
