Pier Fisherman Surprised with FREE TARPON FISHING TRIP in Tampa Bay!

The Fort DeSoto Fishing Piers are a great place to visit and catch fish. Every year thousands of people visit these landmarks. On this day I visited the Fort DeSoto Bay side Fishing Pier in search of two new fishing buddies. As I idled up to the pier, I noticed two young fisherman with lines out. After asking them how the fishing was, they didn't seem too excited about their morning. SO, I decided to completely change their day and SURPRISE them with a totally FREE Tarpon Fishing Trip. They were in disbelief at first, but then very excited about the opportunity. After getting our new fishing friends on board and giving them a couple Saint Pete Fishing Outfitters hats and stickers, we headed off in search of fish.

First we did some bottom fishing for grunts and snapper on the edge of the shipping channel. After that bite slowed down, I checked in with our special guest Jason Wightman of Grande Tarpon Charters. Jason is a local tarpon fishing expert and I caught my first tarpon using his guide service. I knew that we would have a great opportunity to put Mitch and Ben on their first tarpon if Jason was onboard. After we met up with Jason and get all or tarpon gear onboard, we ran over the to the passes and beaches of Tampa Bay. Focusing around Bean point and Egmont, we saw plenty of tarpon. The tough part was getting a bite. After fishing for several hours with no bites, we decided we needed to fish the remainder of the outgoing tide at the skyway bridge. Then, it happened. A tarpon finally bit, and we hooked up. The rest is history.

An outstanding day, though a tough one. We never gave up and kept fishing until the end which payed off huge. Mitch fought his first tarpon to the bought and got to touch the fish. The footage was amazing and it was awesome to edit. The day was an experience we'll never forget.
