The Earth United Council fleet is heading for the dominion capital, The planet Korhar iv. Dugar's fleet eventually encircled the remnants of Munsk's forces during an attack on augusred, the capital of Kerhaxen. Just as the Earth United Council forces prepare to arrest the deposed emperor, Jim Rayor arrives with a squad of protoss aboard Munsk's old command ship hybelion. Raynor, his protoss Allies, and Munsk joined hands to escape the siege, and the Earth United Council gave chase.

Raynor and Munsk arrive on El, ready to evacuate through the space gate, followed by the Earth Joint Council. The portal's energy drew attacks from the surrounding Zerg, and stukov was startled to see Duran's forces withdraw from the battlefield, leaving the Earth Joint Council forces directly exposed to the Zerg attack. Unable to fend off the Zerg and capture Munsk at the same time, Stukov ordered his troops to retreat. Stukov himself made an unexpected trip to The planet Brysses.

Dugar was confused when he received the news that Raynor and Munsk had fled, and that Stukov had given up the fight on Ayr. When the JCS detected the presence of a Decoy jammer on Brassis, Duran asserted that Stukov had recreated the device on Tarsannis in order to sabotage JCS plans. Faced with this situation, Dugar ordered Duran to find and execute Stukov.

Duran shot Stukov and slipped away. A badly wounded Stukov told Dugar that Duran was the real traitor and had probably been infected by the Zerg. It was Duran who let Munsk and Raynor go and suggested destroying the Spectre Jammer, which Stukov reassembled because he believed it was the key to saving humanity from the Zerg invasion.

Stukov's words convinced Dugar to set up a stronghold on Brysis and then lead the Earth Joint Council fleet to Char. The Earth Joint Council forces breached the new Overlord's defenses and injected it with a neurocontrol agent in order to take control
