The Sri Lanka president just days ago announced they were bankrupt, sending protestors into the streets as most citizens struggle to get everyday essentials like food, gasoline and medicine. This sparked a series of events, including protestors robbing wealthy people in the streets, raiding the central bank, overtaking the presidential palace, burning down the PM’s home and sending him fleeing on a ship.

In the interim, there is a temporary president taking over, hoping to fix the government. Right now, the island is relying on temporary aid from other countries and has applied to the International Monetary Fund for a bailout.
