Italian World Baseball Classic Player and 2004 Olympic Italian Baseball Player Fabio Milano

After attending Radford University as a starter, I was invited to tryout with Fortitudo in Bologna, Italy and pitched for them in a tournament. I threw a no-hitter for 7 innings with 17 K’s and 3 walks. I was immediately offered a contract and signed with the team. I converted into a closer during my first season, as the team had a veteran starting pitching staff, and never looked back. I played 13 years of professional baseball for Fortitudo from 2001-2013. In that time, we won 3 Italian championships and 3 European championships. We also had the honor of being the first European team to be invited to the Asia Series in Taiwan in 2013.
Throughout my career, I was voted to the All-Star team 3 times and named the Top Reliever of the League 3 times. I still hold the title of All-Time Saves Leader for Fortitudo, and am short only 3 saves of the all-time saves leader in Italian baseball history.
Between 2001-2007, I was honored to be chosen for the Italian national team. Representing Italy, I competed in numerous tournaments around the world including the 2001 World Cup of Baseball in Taiwan, the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, and the 2006 Inaugural World Baseball Classic.
Since retiring at the end of the 2013 season and moving to Chicago, I coach and conduct private lessons throughout the Chicagoland area. I had the pleasure of coaching 2 years with the Glenview Blaze travel program and another 2 years with the Diamond Dawgz travel program. I am currently coaching an 11u team for Stoppers Baseball Academy. I also consult and help teams with their practices and game situations. I have two beautiful daughters that compete at an elite level in softball and enjoy life with my wife, two cats & a dog.
