DAYS 21 & 22 / 2022 Wheat Harvest / July 6 & 7

July 6 was a full on rain day. Clouds remained all day with little showers popping up. We took a drive to the NW corner of what was supposed to be Lake McConaughy. All we saw was a lot of dry lake bed. We never got far enough east to see the water.

July 7 began late. We did head to the field for a sample cut. Took it to the elevator only to find out the moisture was at 19%.

From there, we toured to the next field north of Chappell. The storm we had on Tuesday night dumped more than 2.5” of rain and hail.

Unfortunately, the field was smack dab in the path of the hail. It looks like we should still cut it but will only know what’s there when the combine gets there.

Then we took a tour down memory lane. Drove by fields we used to cut. And talked to a farmer we hadn’t seen in years.

It was a good day!
