Twilight of Democracy-HyperNation

Hi everyone, I'm Mr H, HyperNation's ambassador. Today, we're going to discuss an interesting topic; namely, the twilight of democracy, and what we should expect as a result. Democracy is a form of government in which the people have the authority to deliberate and decide on legislation matters, or to choose governing officials to do so. In short, the rule of the majority applies in the formulation of major political decisions that would affect the development of the nation as a whole.

The beginning of democracy can be traced back to prehistoric times, and the reappearance of democracy in recent history began in the 17th century, but only in the upper classes. Towards the end of the 18th century, democracy became more widespread when France contemplated the abolition of slavery. While democracy has its own flaws, some may argue that it is one of the most equitable forms of government.

But as we look back in recent years, democracy has slowly begun to lose its meaning and value. Corporations began to lobby for support from politicians, funding them under the premise of quid pro quo, whereby politicians will perform favors for these big companies once they get elected.

For example, these corrupted politicians may slash business tax rates, change the law to make it easier for corporations to break the rules, or go after their competitors. Meanwhile, individuals like you and I lack the influence or financial resources to get our voices heard. How can it still be called a democracy when policies are enacted in the favor of the minorities – big businesses?
The existence of HyperNation will render our current democratic system obsolete. In our new nation, citizens are free to express themselves and have their voices heard. We no longer need to be bound by trivial restrictions or unfair rules, and we can truly be free once more.
