'Amazing Grace'. Perhaps one of the best-loved Christian hymn / song of all time. An original version done for the first time using the Indian Sitar this way. It was published in 1779, with words written in 1772 by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (1725–1807) and set to music by William Walker of the USA in 1935 adapted out of a traditional song called ‘New Britain”. Related Biblical Scripture: 1 Chronicles 17:16, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?” Played and sung here on Sitar by Dr. Sanjeeb Sircar with other instruments: Tabla -- A. J. Samson, Keyboards -- Ashok, Bass -- Kiran, Octopad -- Isaac. Jesus / Christ / Yeshua be praised! Website: http://www.sanjeebsircar.com
Text:
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
