Lori Fiechter here giving a shout-out to a 2020 grad who also happens to watch my channel--congrats, Madi S.! Keep on mowing...

(btw, the tomatoes in the thumbnail are super early--49 days--Goliath Giant Early Bush. They taste like a full season tomato...the grilled hamburgers approved! )

The 1.5 inches of rain we had this week is turning our garden quite jungly. That's a good thing. Stan says we need to do more twine-tying on Monday before things get too out of hand. We need to do something about the baby grasshoppers before they get too out of hand as well. I saw a couple of tiny praying mantises, but we need an army of full-size mantids!

I picked a huge bowl of lettuce today--that salad spinner came UPS just in time! I triple-wash the lettuce, using a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar in the first rinse. I made hot bacon dressing to go with it (see last year under "schwaitze") and took a salad to a family gathering today. I picked our first green beans too (and a very few yellow wax beans) along with two more tomatoes. July is when the garden gets serious--when all of Stan's hard work pays off and my hard work in the kitchen begins!

btw, the photo at the end is our 1966 trip out west to Yellowstone, et al. Don't you love the vintage camper?!
