Wat Tha Sutthawat and Ban Bang Sadet Clay Figurine Workshop - Ang Thong Thailand 2022

Wat Tha Sutthawat ancient temple was constructed in the early Ayutthaya period and during the war it was used as a crossing point across the Chao Phraya River. The temple's compound area located right in the banks of the Chao Phraya River just south of Ang Thong. Wat Tha Sutthawat has a brilliant chedi (pagoda) and that houses some ancient Buddha images and historical relics.

In addition to the temple there is a clay figure workshop, Ban Bang Sadet, in an old traditional style Thai house. The workshop was established by the former queen in 1975 to help the farmers earn income after several years of extreme flooding that destroyed their crops.

During this visit everything was locked up so I was unable to view inside of the temple buildings and the workshop was also closed. There was no one around to inquire about why it was closed and it was not a Thai holiday. The temple buildings are very nice on the outside so a bit of a disappointment to not be able to view the murals or see how the clay figures are constructed. I guess it will mean another visit on another day.

Thanks for watching and enjoy the video!
