Omicron tsunami: Task force finds more than half of Canadians have been infected with COVID-19

While more Canadians are enjoying the benefits of being outdoors in the summer, there is still a warning some medical professionals are cautioning about once more: COVID-19.

Canada is seeing an uptick of cases in many parts of the country, and the nation's public health agency is projecting an increase in case numbers in the coming months.

The COVID-19 Immunity Task Force has also released new research that found the number of Canadians who have contracted COVID-19 is likely well above 50 per cent, with about 17 million estimated to have been infected in the past five months. Tim Sargeant reports.
