"The Bateman Brothers [Deleted Scene]" from The Rules of Attraction (2002)

This is a deleted scene from the director's cut of The Rules of Attraction (2002) between Sean Bateman (James Van Der Beek) and Patrick Bateman (Casper Van Dien), referred to later in the Bret Easton Ellis ouvre as the American Psycho. The scene was removed from the 2002 release of the film for reasons of length, and at the polite request of executives at Lionsgate Films. This scene was originally scheduled to shoot the day after 9/11, but we weren't allowed access to the building. We pushed the schedule and shot the Casper Van Dien scenes the following week. This office location was on a mostly empty floor in a downtown Los Angeles skyscraper. Fun fact: Patrick's assistant Jean was played by Rachel Leigh Cook, who happened to be over at my house for Thanksgiving while we were editing and kindly supplied the voice.
