Modern coffee table made from old mahogany and quartz! DIY Woodworking project

This project has been on my mind for a long time. Finally, I decided to do it but with a simple design, to make it easy to built with the tools I have available. The table is made of mahogany and has a height of 48 cm, although I think I would have preferred it a little lower, if you plan to make it I recommend using cardboard templates to visualize the size in your living room and modify the height, width or length if needed, I will leave the plans below. I cut the legs at 79 degrees to give it a modern touch. I just sanded the edges of the wood, because the hand plane left a smooth finish (planing the boards by hand took me about a month because the cuts came out a little crooked, and I had to hand plane almost 1 cm in each leg, so I recommend you to be patient and take breaks, hand made projects take time and dedication) the finish I used is simply a wood oil. For the 3/8” dowels I used a jig that I made, although the holes didn't come out exactly the same :| I recommend buying a 3/8” dowel jig. I made the table based in the dimensions of the quartz (engineered stone) countertop I used, which I had lying around for a long time, but I think a wooden top would look just as good, and it's not that difficult to make. The design is so simple that you can use 2x4s to make the legs if you want.

The project was a little harder than I anticipated because I needed a few more tools but in the end I like the result, the reddish orange color of the mahogany contrasts very well with the white top and the structure holds the weight of the top without problems.
