This adorable video shows a little girl’s determination after she fell over during a Highland dance performance – but got straight back up and carried on.

Dancer Lucy Clark, aged four, was lauded by celebs including Lorraine Kelly for her resolve to keep going after she tripped over during the sword dance.

Lucy, who has been Highland dancing for about a year, was performing at the Loch Lomond Shores on Sunday (July 3).

Footage shows Lucy in her kilt jumping over her swords - as is the tradition of the old Scottish dance – but she takes an unfortunate tumble during her routine.

Lucy, from Argyll and Bute, quickly got back up and continued her performance - much to the delight of onlookers.

Her performance was viewed by hundreds of thousands of people across social media, who showered her with praise.

Proud mum-of-two Ammie Clark, 31, said she was ‘blown away’ by how quickly her daughter recovered from the fall.

Primary teacher Ammie said: “She’s never experienced this before so both her dad and I were blown away by how quickly she started to try and fix her swords to continue dancing.

“Lucy is a determined young girl who always gives things 100 per cent.

"Within a second she was trying to rearrange her swords to continue, and we knew straight away she was getting up to complete the dance.

“Anyone who knows Lucy knows that she loves to dance.

“Her dance teacher Margaret MacInnes told Lucy how proud of her she was that she got back up and continued to count the music so she knew which part to join back in at.

“The older ones at the dance school are so encouraging and supportive, as you can see in the clip one girl comes to help out straight away.

“Dancing is so much more than learning some steps.

“It is about becoming part of a dance community, where you make friends from across the country and learn life skills such a perseverance and commitment.”

Lucy’s dance teacher Margaret MacInnes, from the Margaret Rose Dance School, was full of praise for the youngster.

And she stressed what Lucy did was far more difficult than it looked.
