A mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois at the July 4th parade claimed the lives of seven people and injured more than dozens of others. The shooter, Robert Bobby Crimo iii, also known as Awake the Rapper, left behind a huge body of work on social media. Crimo had a Youtube channel with songs like "Are You Awake," "Toy Soldier," and "On my Mind" and their corresponding music videos. Several media outlets have noted Crimo's obsession with death, despair, and destruction as possible motives for his actions surrounding the Highland Park mass shooting.

Crimo has since been charged with seven counts of murder by local prosecutors. Ever since his identity was released, both the left & and the right have tried to pin Crimo's actions on the other. There are pictures floating of him with ANTIFA-type symbolism, and also MAGA clothing on as well. Mr. Watson calls the political debate out for inferior analysis and directs the viewer's attention to the real culprit: nihilism. Mr. Watson argues that Awake the Rapper's nihilistic tendencies are what prudent people should focus on. He endeavors in a philosophical exploration of nihilism and existentialism, detailing their history, claims, and providing a rigorous critique of both. He then exhorts his listener to see hope in the fact of their existence and their potential as human beings and thus avoid cultural decline. Watch for more!
