Muzzle Flash P365XL, P365 - Night Fire

This is a comparison of two Sig P365 models. The first is the P365XL and the P365.

The first three rounds used in each were self-defense ammo by Hornady Critical Defense Ammunition 9mm Luger 115 Grain FTX. I misstated in the video that it was XTP, my usual choice. This self-defense ammo is designed for low light use since it reduces muzzle flash.

The follow-up rounds were FMJ Blazer Brass 115gr, usually target-grade ammo.

You can see the clear difference between the self-defense rounds and the range target-grade ammo. The choice is clear if you are using this in low light or home defense that likely takes place at night, limit your flash signature to retain your night vision, and not give away your location as easily.

I found the XRay sights on the P365 preferable for picking up the target, I had a steel silhouette 10 yards away. The P365xl had a Romeo red dot on it and I found it less than useful under this very low light condition since I was hunting for alignment on the target. I prefer red dots for distance shooting rather than low light on a handgun and this confirmed my choice.
