A festival or commonly known as a “fiesta” is part of Filipino culture. Every city or province has a local festival. Being a very religious country, a festival is generally about celebrating the patron saint of a city or province.

The roots of Filipino fiestas go back even further than Spanish colonial rule. Pre-Hispanic Filipinos regularly made ritual offerings to appease the gods. Today every city in the Philippines has its own festival; an excuse for locals to share their best food and strongest drinks with adventurous outsiders. Whatever the time of year, there's bound to be a party somewhere.
