Mike Whitney has hit the ball out of the park with his analysis of the "war" between Russia and Ukraine, where the US military-industrial complex and NATO are going to be relegated to the trash-heap of history of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany goes forward, where, in a last desperate attempt to end their cooperation (which would produce an economic powerhouse changing geopolitics worldwide) they are throwing everything they can to make it appear as through the moral necessity to oppose "evil Putin" outweighs the rational economics of cheap gas for Germany with attendant benefits for all of Europe--but colossal side-effects for the US and its military presence in Europe. The closer the ties between Russia and Germany, the less need for NATO or for US military assistance, where the US will be left on the sidelines as a mere bystander to the economic development of Europe. Russia appears to be cleaning up bio-labs in Ukraine, where it must be painful for Biden to witness an invasion of the country where his and Hunter's money is laundered. That's the score.
