Crosman V300 .177 pistol

Crosman V300 spring air pistol. It was modeled after the V350, M1 and V3500 slide action bb guns. They averaged between 350 and 380fps hence the V350 name. This pistol used the same pop valve technology as it's cousin rifles.

Crosman also built an equivalent BB pistol they called the V-300. It was only produced from 1963 to 1964.

It has a similar firing mechanism to the long guns, but instead of pushing the barrel back to cock it, the V-300 has a backstrap lever that is pulled to cock the gun. This lever is caught at several places three in its cocking arc by a ratchet mechanism, to prevent the lever from smashing the hand if released too early. Like the long guns, the pistol is hard for an adult to cock. It would be a real chore for kids.

At each point in the ratchet the gun could be shot for different power levels. 1 ratchet click a was getting 80fps. two clicks around 118fps. fully cocked this old gun still is putting out 303fps average. , The V-300 indeed does shoot BBs at 300 f.p.s.  It’s still pretty good today for a sping powered pistol however CO2 pistols regularly shoot harder. But back in 1963 there weren’t many CO2 BB pistols, so this was a powerful spring pistol.The V-300 is a large air pistol. It’s 13 inches long by 6.25-inches high. It weighs 2 lbs. 2 oz. The grips are Crosman’s very ergonomic pistol grips, if your right handed. They would feel familiar to everyone who has a Crosman 600 pistol.
