Homelander felt something when Nolan started to squeeze his skull like a sore. It wasn't the excruciating anguish or his heart's constant deterioration in his gullet. It was a feeling. As their #1 Super, there was something the scientists at Vaught told him he couldn't feel, wouldn't feel, or shouldn't feel. Something he could only feel on the faces and heartbeats of other people. Homelander experienced terror for the first and only time in his life and understood that he was a human, just like the hundreds of innocent people he had heedlessly killed.
