Most of the projector style nightlights I have tried recently have been complicated affairs, with multiple operating modes, all sorts of features and although often capable of producing spectacular displays, too often more trouble than they are worth. Not so here. This is a simple and easy to use nightlight that gives a simple and attractive ceiling and wall display with a minimum of fuss and bother.
In the attractive mid-market box are the nightlight itself, a USB power cable, remote control and a well printed and easy to read user guide. Build quality seems fine for the price, with nothing looking likely to break or fail anytime soon.
The nightlight is made from plastic with a mechanical revolving dome on top with shaped holes cut into it through which coloured LED lights project onto the walls and ceiling. On the front of the unit below the dome are buttons for Timer, Nightlight, Projector and rotation with next to it a small LED display for the timer. On the rear are the power Off/On switch and the USB-C power in port. The credit card size remote control is thick enough to accommodate the two AAA batteries needed to power it and has a chunky feel to it which makes it easier to use than the thinner rivals. The remote comes with all the buttons needed to control the display type, rotation and timer.
Using the nightlight is simple enough. Turn the rear power switch to On and select either the remote control or front panel buttons to set the timer between one and five hours, the warm white nightlight and or the projector and dome rotation. The unit will work either as a simple and subtle nightlight, a moving or static pattern projector or any combination of the three.
It does not play lullabies, act as a Bluetooth speaker, connect to an app or have any other frills and fancies. The only concession to new tech being the USB-C power port and the LED display for the 3-stage timer.
If you want a simple, old fashioned and easy to use nightlight that looks great but will not take over the room, then this could be for you.
