The Quest For Summer River Walleye / Night Fishing From Shore / Bass, Catfish, Suckers And More

The Quest For Summer River Walleye is a reasonable challenge for any fisherman but night fishing from shore for Grand River Walleye in the Lansing area is a challenge far greater than one might believe if they were used to fishing the Detroit River or The Saginaw River or The Flint River or one of the many other great walleye fishing rivers of Michigan. Certain areas of The Grand River hold a decent amount of walleyes but this area where I live they are a bit of a rare treat. I spent 2 weeks night fishing hard every night and although I only landed 2 walleye I caught some other cool fish along the way. This is the highlights from my quest for summer walleyes in the river. Ive since moved on to pike, dogfish and perch fishing and will keep at that till we get some more rain to get the walleyes a bit more active.

Night fishing from shore is a productive way to fish in the heat of summer and odds of catching a walleye increase greatly when fishing at night. Many other fish species actively feed at night and you might find species you didn't even know were around while night fishing. Walleye fishing from shore is sure to catch you a bonus bass or catfish as well as the occasional pike, gar, sucker, panfish ect. When the walleye aren't biting i like to toss out a worm on a bottom rig because just about any fish will eat a worm at night when they rely more on scent to locate food.
